Have you noticed the chill in the air? Even in our moderate Bay area climate, when the sun goes down, a nice warm coat is a necessity.
Did you know:
•Cold weather makes the body work harder, putting stress on the heart to ensure the body stays warm.
•Children are unable to regulate their body temperatures as adults do. They can quickly develop hypothermia without protection from the cold.
•1 in 7 Americans currently live below the poverty threshold and may be unable to afford one of life's basic necessities--the warmth and protection of a coat.
Who do you know that might need a coat? Children, families, veterans, seniors, your neighbors or even the folks at the grocery store. Homeless individuals are at especially high risk.
Across the country, individuals and families are struggling to recover from the economic crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The shelter of a coat is a basic need, like food and water, and the need is great right now.
