Forkas Find of the Day: What Does the Eviction Moratorium Mean to Me?

The Supreme Court struck down the Biden Administration’s Eviction Moratorium. Hundreds of thousands of people are now at risk of losing their homes.

If you are in forbearance or can’t pay your mortgage, talk to your bank. Don’t put your head in the sand because time may be of the essence. Banks are going to want their money and if they don’t get it, they may choose to foreclose on your home.

Remember, the eviction problem we are facing today is different than previous events caused by bad lender loans. Our current situation was was caused by a virus.

Most people have equity in their homes today so if you are struggling to pay your mortgage, talk to your bank or lender and try to come up with a solution. If you can’t resolve the notice of default with the lender, don’t let them take your home. There is cash in your walls. Sell your home before it’s too late because if the bank forecloses on your home, you’ll have to say good-bye to all that cash.
